What we raise, grow and harvest
Five enterprises worked on one piece of land, with the figures for each and the date they were counted.
Livestock
- Local cattle
- Local goats
- Rabbits
Cattle under an open shed, goats in a walled pen, rabbits in raised hutches.
Bred on the farm rather than bought in. Fodder comes off our own fields.
Coming soon
- Goats Boer
- Goats Kalahari Red
- Cattle Friesian
Poultry
- Local chicken
- Broilers
Layers on deep litter in a long, open sided house.
Raised in batches, so a house is cleaned and rested between them. Litter goes back to the fields.
Aquaculture
- Catfish
Catfish in tanks rather than earth ponds.
Stocked, graded as they grow, and harvested to order.
Horticulture
- Bell pepper
- Habanero
- Cucumber
- Tomato
Peppers and vegetables under shade net tunnels, on drip line and mulch.
Under cover and on boreholes, so the beds turn round through the year.
Coming soon
- Cauliflower
- Purple cabbage
Crop production
- Maize
- Sorghum
- Millet
Open field beyond the tunnels, prepared and planted in rows.
Part sold, part kept back to feed the livestock and the fish.
This list grows
What is above is what is in production today. New stock, new varieties and what is coming next are posted in Field Notes as they happen.
The farm

A map of the farm goes here once we have the coordinates. A WhatsApp location pin taken at the gate is enough.
